Bangalore court to pronounce verdict in Jayalalithaa's assets case today
The case was filed in 1996 by her arch rival the DMK.
If convicted, Jayalalithaa may face up to seven years of imprisonment. She had already spent a few days behind the bars after she was arrested in the case about 18 years ago.
The Tamil Nadu CM is expected to be present for the verdict in a special court near the Bangalore Central Jail on the outskirts of the city, sources said.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Friday refused to accept the petition of a lawyer who wanted the verdict to be put off on grounds that it would cause major law and order problems in the state.
