Bengal polls: 67.55 percent voters turnout till 3 p.m.
While 49.43 percent voter turnout was recorded in North Kolkata, 70.55 percent voting was reported in Burdwan, while Nadia recorded a turnout of 68.62 percent and Murshidabad 70.32 percent.
Incidents of violence were also reported.
Official reports said Tahidul Islam, a CPI(M) polling agent was shot dead by miscreants at Shiropara under Domkal constituency of Murshidabad district.
CPI(M) candidate from Domkal, Anisur Rahman, accused the Trinamool Congress of murdering Islam, 35, and alleged that ruling party men had captured several booths in the constituency.
According to reports, crude bomb was thrown near a polling station in Kolkata's Amherst Street area.
Union Minister and BJP leader Babul Supriyo was heckled at a polling in Jorasanko area in Kolkata.
A CPI(M) worker has been beaten up by miscreants in Bardhaman district's Ketugram area.
Reports of stray incidents of bombing, assault and intimidation reached from few other areas of Murshidabad and also from Nadia's Gayeshpur and Bardhaman's Raina.
Allegations of Left-Congress combine voters being intimidated also came from Kolkata's Belgachia-Cossipore and Beliaghata constituencies.
