Bengal polls: Akranto Amra activist Ambikesh Mahapatra to contest as independent candidate
Another Akranto Amra activist Pratima Dutta, whose husband- local TMC leader and green activist- Tapan Dutta was shot dead by few miscreants in 2011 over a waterland conflict, will contest independently in the Bengal polls as well from Domjur constituency in Howrah district.
Ambikesh Mahapatra and Pratima Dutta are taking part in the battle against two heavy-weight TMC candidates Kolkata Mayor Shovan Chatterjee and state Irrigation and Waterways Minister Rajib Banerjee respectively.
Meanwhile, opposition parties have not declared candidates for these two constituencies so far. Akranto Amra activists, however, appealed the opposition parties not to set candidates in these seats and to fight together against ruling TMC.
