New Delhi/Kolkata/IBNS: Bengali film superstar Rituparna Sengupta has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the alleged ration distribution scam, media reports said.

As per a report by Anandabazar Patrika, Rituparna, a senior Tollywood actress, has been asked to appear before ED on June 5.

Former West Bengal Minister of Food and Supplies Jyotipriya Mallick was arrested by the ED last year in connection with the alleged scam.

The ED, which is probing the money trails of the alleged irregularities in the statutory ration distribution system, has information that the arrested businessman Bakibur Rahaman has huge businesses in Bengal, Mumbai, and even in Dubai worth nearly 100 crores of rupees.

Reports claim Bakibur had rapport with Mallick when the latter was the state food supplies minister in the previous Mamata Banerjee government.
