Bengaluru: Violence broke out in Bengaluru over an alleged social media post by a relative of a Congress  MLA on Tuesday.

Two people were killed in the violence, media reports said.

According to media reports, protesters torched several vehicles.

The police reportedly resorted to lathi-charge, tear gas and firing to disperse the crowd.

The protesters reportedly surrounded the house of MLA Srinivas Murthy.

Meanwhile, police said Naveen, the key accused in the incident, has been arrested.

Bengaluru City Police Commissioner said 110 accused were arrested for arson, stone pelting and assault on police.

Meanwhile, curfew has been imposed in KG Haloli and DJ Halli localities in East Bengaluru following the violence.

According to official sources, curfew has been imposed in two localities, where the law and order situation have currently been brought under control, reports UNI.

An extra police force has been deployed here as a precautionary measure, the sources said.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Home minister Basavaraj Bommai, while condemning the violent incident, has said, "Strict action would be taken against anybody who would indulge in disturbing the peace and harmony."

He too has appealed the people to remain calm and not to indulge in any kind of violent activities.

The local Congress MLA, Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy, whose house was torched and damaged by the agitated mob, also made a similar appeal while assuring the masses to bring culprits to the book.
