BJP, AAP responsible for violence in national capital: Delhi Congress

| @indiablooms | Dec 19, 2019, at 09:33 pm

New Delhi/UNI: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Subhash Chopra on Thursday alleged that the BJP Government at the Centre and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi, to gain political mileage and implement their divisive political agenda, have conspired to put the lives of the youth in the dark and set the national capital aflame in violence.

Addressing a meeting of the District and Block Congress Committee presidents, Chopra said that the people of Delhi are not only feeling hurt and upset but are also feeling betrayed and insecure.

“A curfew-like situation is prevailing in Delhi and the common people are now afraid to step out of their homes to go to offices and for other works, and as a result, life in the capital has been totally disturbed,” he said.

Besides Chopra, the meeting was also addressed by Campaign Committee chairman Kirti Azad, chief spokesperson, senior leaders Mukesh Sharma and Rajesh Lilothia.

Chopra said that common people were now living in fear and anxiety, and the daily-wage earners are hard-put to earn their livelihood.

He said that the closing down of over 30 metro stations and heavy traffic jams all across the capital have created a very disturbing situation.

He said that with the declaration of Section 144 in Delhi, people cannot step out their homes, and the Capital is in the grip of fear and insecurity.

Chopra blamed the BJP and AAP for the present situation as it was as due to their shadowboxing to get political upper hand that Delhi has been pushed to such an unquiet and volatile situation.

He appealed to the Congress workers to maintain peace and spare no effort in ensuring peace and stability in Delhi, and help those who have suffered on account of violence.

Chopra said that the core principles of the Indian Constitution, framed by Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar, have been violated in passing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, which has not only disturbed peace and harmony, but the rule of law was not visible anywhere.

He said that protecting the Constitution was a different mater, but the BJP Government has been attacking even those who uphold the Constitution.

Lilothia and Azad said that those who are in power are inciting violence, attacking the Constitution, and beating up youth to ruin their lives, and it is beyond comprehension how the BJP and AAP Governments could provide stable and peaceful governance.

They condemned the various arrests in Delhi today and demanded that those arrested for protesting against CAA should be freed forthwith.

A resolution moved by Sharma was passed unanimously at the meeting.

The resolution condemned the BJP and AAP for disturbing the peace and happiness of the people in Delhi, and also the Delhi Police for trying to crush the peaceful demonstration by students and demanded the immediate release of the arrested students.

Sharma said that the Congress party will oppose with all its might the communal and fascist forces and will protect secularism at any cost.
