BJP-led Assam govt uses computerised lottery to post 7234 teachers

Guwahati, June 19 (IBNS) : The newly formed BJP-led Assam government had used computerised lottery to post 7234 regular lower primary teachers in the 10 districts in the state.

The Education department of the state government will upload appointment letter of these posts in education department and other government websites on June 27.

Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said that, we will upload all appointment letters in the government websites and selected candidates can used computerised appointment letters.

“The lottery was done minimum two times for each district to offset any technical error,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

“All the candidates for the regular post have been selected from the 38,000 contractual TET teachers under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) who have B.Ed. and DL.Ed,” the minister said.

The highest number of teachers – 2619 was posted in western Assam Dhubri district, bordering district with Bangladesh.

Apart from Dhubri, 840 was posted in Barpeta district, 587 in Bongaigaon district, 209 in Cachar district, 48 in Darrang district, 355 in Goalpara district, 708 in Karimganj district, 801 in Morigaon district, 875 in Nagaon district and 192 in Upper Assam Tinsukia district.

“We also look into regularised the rest contractual teachers,” the Assam Education minister said.

On the other hand, the BJP-led Assam government had decided to free admission of the special students from Class IX to University level.

“After free admission of BPL students in all government and provincialised colleges, we have now decided to free admission of special students from Class IX to University level,” the Assam minister said.
