BJP trying to topple Congress govt in Karnataka, alleges Dy CM Shivakumar
Bengaluru/UNI: Making a big allegation, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday said he is aware of the BJP's attempt to topple Congress government in the state.
"I know it (BJP trying to topple Congress government). All the MLAs are coming and telling the CM and me about who is in touch with them (BJP). They are also telling us what they are being offered.
"Let the Assembly (session) take place. I have all the information. I will make sure all those who have been approached speak up," he told reporters when he was asked about BJP's bid to overthrow the Congress government.
In reply to the controversy surrounding the release of the 'Collection Master' poster addressed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar alleged that a staggering sum of 2,500 crores was gathered for securing CM's post.
Earlier, Shivakumar alleged that the Rs 94 crore seized money by the Income Tax belonged to BJP leaders.
"There is no connection between the cash and the Congress party," he added.
Responding to the BJP leaders’ allegations that the Congress high command has been shaken by the latest developments, the DyCM said it is not the Congress high command, but the BJP central leadership has been shaken.
The BJP had launched a protest against the state government, calling it corrupt and demanded a CBI probe to find the source of money that was seized during the I-T raids.
The party alleged that money collected by the Congress was meant to fund the party’s election campaign in five states.
Former Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda urged the government to order a CBI probe to expose Congress leaders who are behind the money.
