Both House of Parliament adjourned for second time as Opposition uproar continues

New Delhi, Jul 22 (IBNS) Uproar and acrimony continued to rule the roost in Parliament as both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha faced two back-to-back adjournments with an unrelenting Congress-led opposition demanding immediate action in the Lalit Modi row and Vyapam scam.

The Lower house was adjourned for the second time barely ten minutes after it met at noon and  Speaker Sumitra Mahajan warned the MPs against  showing black flags in the floor of the House and the Congress members continued to shout slogans.

Earlier, the Speaker had adjourned the Lok Sabha disapproving the Congress MPs wearing black bands.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the second time in the day until noon.

The government reiterated in the Upper House that  it is ready for a discussion on Sushma Swaraj controversy.

Today is the second day of the Monsoon session that finds difficult to move ahead with normal business with a belligerent Congress being adamant on the demand of the resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for her alleged help to former IPL chief Lalit Modi, accused in money laundering and foreign exchange rule violation.

The opposition has also put its foot down demanding removal of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for her proximity with Lalit Modi and that of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the Vyapam scam.

Among others, BSP chief Mayawati targeted Swaraj and  Raje over Lalit Modi controversy, saying  it is a national issue and not a state issue as being claimed by the government.

Left leader Sitaram Yechury said  people linked to Vyapam scam have died outside Madhya Pradesh as well, therefore, it cannot be categorised as a state issue.

However, NCP distances itself from Congress, saying the party is against disruption of House and it wants discussion.
