BSF jawan commits suicide in Assam’s Karimganj district

Guwahati/UNI: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan allegedly committed suicide at a BSF camp in Assam’s Karimganj district.

The incident took place at the camp of 7th battalion of BSF located at Maijdihit area in Karimganj town.

According to reports, the BSF jawan was found hanging on a tree and the Deputy Commandant of the camp had immediately informed local police.

The deceased jawan was identified as 40-year-old Binod Kumar Gupta.

He is hailing from Ghaziabad area in Uttar Pradesh and he was deployed along the Indo-Bangladesh border.

Later, a police team of Karimganj police station reached the area and sent the body for post-mortem to Karimganj civil hospital.

A police official of Karimganj district said that, after receiving the information a police team had reached the spot and found that the BSF jawan was hanging on a tree inside the camp.

“We have already sent the body for post-mortem. We have not recovered any suicide note. Our investigation is going on,” the police official said.
