BSF officials seize Rs 52 cr worth heroin from Punjab border

Jalandhar/UNI: Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday said it foiled an attempt of few persons from Pakistan side of the border at Ferozepur sector to push contraband into India and recovered from the site several packets of heroin, having a value of Rs 52.50 crore in the international market.

A spokesperson of Punjab Frontier's Headquarter of the BSF here, said the alert BSF troops observed mischievous activities of some suspicious persons ahead of the border security fence and when the force challenged them, they fled back to the Pakistan side.

During the search of the area, ten packets of contraband, weighing 10.590 kg, were recovered.

The BSF had recovered a total of 227.415 kg of heroin from the Punjab border during the current year, the spokesperson added.
