BSF seizes cosmetics, medicine, other items being smuggled to Bangladesh

New Delhi/UNI: The Border Security Force (BSF) troops of South Bengal Frontier on Sunday seized huge quantity of cosmetics, medicines and miscellaneous items worth Rs 23,25,505, which were being smuggled to Bangladesh through location of Lake Bour under Border Out Post Haridaspur North 24 Pargana district.

On a specific tip off, the the troopers of 158 Battalion of the border guarding force carried out special search operation near International Boundary along the bank of Lake Bour and observed some suspected persons gathered near bank of the lake and trying to drop some bags in to the river and pulling it towards Bangladesh side.

The BSF personnel chased them due to which the smugglers dropped the bags behind and fled away by taking advantage of darkness and dense vegetation towards India side.

The patrol further searched the area thoroughly and recovered 20 bags in which had a huge quantity of cosmetics ,medicines and miscellaneous items were stashed of worth Rs 23,25,505 were recovered.

The seized items handed over to custom office Petrapole for further investigation and legal action, the Force said in a statement
