Caste-based census would be conducted in Bihar soon: Nitish Kumar

Patna/UNI: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced on Wednesday that a caste-based census would be conducted soon in the state.

After an-all party meeting held late this evening, Kumar told newspersons here that it was unanimously decided in the meeting to conduct a caste-based census in the state to gather complete information about every person.

He said that during the meeting a consensus on the issue developed among all party leaders who unanimously decided for conducting it in Bihar.

Kumar ruled out the possibility of any political disturbance or hurdle in conducting a caste-based census and categorically cleared that BJP was not opposed to it.

He maintained that BJP had only said that such a census cannot be conducted at the national level but can be done at the state level.

Besides chief minister Nitish Kumar, Education minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary who also holds the parliamentary affairs department and energy minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav attended the meeting from JD(U).

Deputy Chief Minister Tarkeshwar Prasad and BJP state president Sanjay Jayaswal represented their party in the meeting.

Leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Tejaswi Prasad Yadav and RJD MP Manoj Jha, Congress legislator party leader in Bihar assembly Ajit Sharma, AIMIM MLA Akhtarul Iman and representatives of CPI-ML represented their parties in the meeting.
