Kolkata, Sep 11 (UNI) The CBI, probing the Narada sting operations scam case, today recorded the voice sample of former Kolkata Corporation mayor Sovan Chatterjee, who had joined the BJP recently.

West Bengal ruling Trinamool Congress MP Aparupa Poddar too appeared before the CBI officials at Nizam Palace for the same reason.

This was the first appearance of the former mayor before the CBI officials after his changing allegiance to the saffron camp from Trinamool Congress.

Chatterjee came along with his companion and friend Baishakhi Banerjee. He was in the Nizam Palace for an hour.

The CBI last week directed Chatterjee, Poddar and Narada News CEO Mathew Samuel to depose before the investigating office for recording their voice samples in presence of some witnesses.

However, Samuel could not make it today and informed the CBI by an email that he would appear before the investigating officials at a later date.

The CBI has so far recorded voice samples of some seven accused persons, among the 13 people named in the FIR in the Narada sting operations, which were exposed in 2016.

Official sources said the investigating agency after getting recorded voice samples of the accused persons, the same would be tested in forensic laboratory in the headquarters to match the voice
