CBI summons TMC leader Derek O Brien

Kolkata, Jul 27 (UNI) Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha leader and MP Derek O'Brien, also the publisher of West Bengal ruling party's mouthpiece "Jago Bangla", has been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation ( CBI) to appear early next month.

Brien, also chief spokesman of the Trinamool Congress, in his Twitter account, said " Jago Bangla is Trinamool’s official newspaper. Publisher: Derek O'Brien. Editor Subrata Bakshi was summoned by CBI ( a) months ago to seek clarifications. Now, publisher served a notice at 2 pm July 25. Trinamool Motion in RS to oppose amendments to RTI Act started at 2pm July25".

The Rajya Sabha MP, also a spokesperson of West Bengal's ruling party, has been asked to appear before a CBI team in the first week of August.

Sources said the central investigating agency is seeking information regarding the funds of the " Jago Bangla" , a Bengali daily run by the ruling TMC.

Sources said Brien has been asked to appear before the CBI officials on August 1,2019.

The CBI had quizzed TMC general secretary Subrata Bakshi over three and half hours at its Salt Lake office on December 10, 2018.
