Charaideo to be developed as cultural and academic centre: Assam CM
Asam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said it while speaking at the 35th Biennial Conference of the Purbanchal Tai Sahitya Sabha at Charaideo on Wednesday.
Revealing this, Sonowal further urged the elected representatives to hold consultation with the local people to solicit their views for drawing a road map for the same.
Sonowal also advocated a bigger role for the Purbanchal Tai Sahitya Sabha in the inclusive growth of all the indigenous communities of the state.
“Instead of confining themselves with the promotion of Tai language and culture only, the Sabha must work to realize the ideals of Swargeodeo Siu-Lung-Ka-Pha who set the foundations of Bor Axom by strengthening the bond between different communities of his times,” Sonowal said adding that the Sabha must include within its ambit of work the preservation and promotion of all languages and culture of all the communities of Assam.
Stating that the Tai language has great potential in improving the socio-economic scenario of the region, Sonowal said that education of Tai language will forge better trade linkages between Assam and the South East Asian nations and will also improve social relationship.
“Tai is an international language. Its learning will open floodgates of opportunities for the young generation of the State. It will help in the growth of trade and cultural bonding,” Sonowal said.
The Assam CM further reiterated his Government’s commitment for taking adequate measures for conservation of Charaideo Moidams and said steps have been already initiated to put this site prominently in the world tourism map.
“The Brand Ambassador of Assam Tourism Priyanka Chopra will help in promoting Charaideo in the international tourist circuit,” Sonowal said.
Underlining the need for active public participation in good governance, Chief Minister Sonowal urged the people to be more vigilant over the functioning of his Government.
He also stated that the Government has already started a slew of development works for improving road condition, strengthening the embankments etc. in the State.
“People must have a close watch on all the works taken up for improving different sectors in the state. This is a part of their social responsibility,” Sonowal said.
The Assam CM also outlined the different initiatives taken up for improving agriculture in the State and sought people’s cooperation in making Assam free from corruption.
President of Purbanchal Tai Sahitya Sabha Dr. Dayananda Borgohain, MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, MLAs Topon Gogoi, Jogen Mohan, Rituparna Baruah, Kushal Dowari were present among other in the meeting.
