Chidambaram attacks CBI to defend son Karti in Aircel-Maxis case

New Delhi, Sep 15 (IBNS): Former Union finance minister P Chidambaram on Friday defended his son Karti in Aircel-Maxis case, saying that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should question him, and not harass the son.

Chidambaram tweeted on Friday morning to say: "In Aircel-Maxis, FIPB recommended and I approved minutes. CBI should question me and not harass Karti Chidambaram."

In an early tweet, the former Union finance minister even accused the CBI of spreading misinformation. "Sad CBI spreading misinformation. In Aircel-Maxis, FIPB officials have recorded statements before CBI that approval given was valid."

Chidambaram's comment came a day after Karti refused to appear before the CBI claiming that a special court has discharged all the accused of charges.

However, Karti's claim stood completely contradictory to the CBI which states the investigation is still on.
