China issues safety alert to their citizens staying in India over Sikkim standoff

New Delhi/Beijing, July 8 (IBNS): China issued a safety alert to their citizens who are staying in India, amid the standoff between troops of two nations near Sikkim, media reports said on Saturday.

The advisory issued by the Chinese embassy has asked Chinese citizens to be alert about the security where they are staying and also about  their personal security.

The note has asked their citizens to inform their family members about where they are going. It also urged them to reduce the traveling as much possible, and carry identification proof with them.

China around ten days ago accused the Indian troops of crossing its border along the Line of Actual Control in Sikkim and obstructing its army from carrying out routine works.

A report by China's state-run news agency Xinhua said China has  urged India to immediately withdraw its border guards that have crossed the boundary and have a thorough investigation of this matter.

As the standoff between the Indian and Chinese military continues, the latter's state run media few days back has warned the former of greater loss than that of 1962 if war breaks out now.

Chinese state media has warned India that the former willl support Sikkim's independence call if the latter does not back down in the border dispute, reports said.

"Beijing should reconsider its stance over the Sikkim issue," an editorial in the Global Times read.

The editorial has said that Beijing should make India pay for its provocations.
