Beijing, Nov 23 (IBNS) Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who is currently on an official visit to China, visited the Shanghai Command Control Centre on Monday.

He was briefed on the functioning of the Centre by the Chinese officials. The Centre is built in the heart of city and operates the Emergency Response System and also monitors the traffic system for the city.

The Union Home Minister was apprised that more 88,000 cameras were installed all around Shanghai and nearly 4,000 police vehicles equipped with GPS were always on alert mode to respond to any emergency situation.

Singh told the Chinese authorities that India had envisioned such Command Control Centres for 'Safe City' projects and he would instruct the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to incorporate good practices followed here back in India.

Singh also visited Xin Tiandi, a police station in Shanghai city, and saw the functioning of the local police.

During his stay in Shanghai he also met the Indian community at Infosys Centre.

In his address to the community he highlighted the importance of India-China relations specially in the field of security and economic cooperation.

"If India and China come together and 2.5 billion hearts meet on one common ground there could be a sea change not only in the region but also in the world," said Singh.

Applauding China's efforts in strengthening bilateral relations he said his visit to China had been fruitful as both the countries had decided to increase cooperation on security related issues and information sharing.

Underscoring the immense potential in India's economy the Union Home Minister appealed to the NRIs to come and invest in India.

"Our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has come up with many schemes where investors can tap the potential of India's economy. Programmes like Make in India, Start Up India and Stand Up India give the investors an opportunity. I would go further and urge you to work for 'Scale Up India', said Singh.
