Cleric acting as Pak spy held in Jammu Kashmir's Kishtwar

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Police along with other security agencies on Saturday arrested a man spying for Pakistan in the Kishtwar district.

Police said on a joint input generated by Kishtwar Police, army and intelligence agency, one person namely Abdul Wahid, resident of Chergi Dool, working as an agent for a Pakistan-based intelligence agency was taken into custody.

"The arrested person provided secret information of various police establishment and security forces to the Pakistan-based handler through various social media platforms," said police.

They said a case under relevant sections has been registered and an investigation started, adding, "the accused person confessed his involvement and some more arrests are expected in near future."

Sources said the accused is a cleric and was living with his wife and daughter.

"He used to pass on vital information about security forces and their installations through social media platforms in form of pictures, audio, and visuals," sources added.
