Congress attacks BJP govt for holding JEE-NEET without safety protocols
New Delhi/UNI: Continuing its attack on the BJP government at the Centre for its decision to hold JEE-NEET examinations amid the Covid pandemic, the Congress on Sunday said that on the one hand, the government is conducting the examination without safety protocols while on the other it has decided against holding question hour in the upcoming Monsoon Session of the Parliament.
In a post on the social media, AICC media in-charge Randeep Surjewala said, 'Breaking World COVID 19 record in daily figures can’t be right; Still conducting #JEENEET without safety protocols is right; But permitting #questionhour in Parliament is wrong !'
The Congress has been attacking the government over its decision to hold the JEE-NEET examinations during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying that it puts lives of lakhs of students at risk.
Meanwhile, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Meghalaya on Sunday has asked the National People's Party-led government to provide transportation and accommodation for the students who will be appearing for the upcoming Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examination.
State opposition Congress and its students wing, the National Students' Union of India had demanded to postpone the NEET and JEE exams which are scheduled to be held in September amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, AVBP state secretary D Tang said, “Since the central government had already given a green signal to conduct the examination (which is scheduled from 1st to 6th September), I request you to kindly provide free transportation from the residence of the candidates to the venue of the examination.”
Underlining that health is a priority in view of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Tang further requested the government to provide adequate masks, sanitizers and face shields to students, who will be appearing for the examination.
