Chennai, July 31 (IBNS): Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday visited a Chennai hospital where former Tamil Nadu CM and DMK supremo M Karunanidhi is currently undergoing treatment.

"He is a tough person like the people of Tamil Nadu," Gandhi told media after meeting the DMK patriarch.

"I am happy to see he is stable," he said.

Wishing Karunanidhi speedy recovery and conveying the message of ex-Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi said: "Sonia ji has sent her best wishes & regards to the family."

The 94-year-old leader, who was earlier under treatment at home, was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital in the wee hours of Saturday after his blood pressure had dropped.
