New Delhi, June 18 (IBNS): On the second day of the Monsoon Session, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi took oath as the Member of Parliament on Tuesday.

She is a MP from the  Raebareli seat in Uttar Pradesh.

She remained the only major shining picture of the party in Uttar Pradesh when even his son Rahul Gandhi lost from the Amethi seat.

The Congress president was defeated in Amethi by BJP leader Smriti Irani.

The Congress managed to win only 51 seats in the polls this time.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, won the Lok Sabha polls for the second consecutive time.

Modi took oath as the PM for his second term last month.

The Monsoon session of the Parliament started on Monday.
