Congress never opposed to construction of Ram Temple: Raj Babbar

| @indiablooms | Nov 23, 2018, at 10:14 pm

Indore, Nov 23 (IBNS): Congress leader Raj Babbar has said that his party was never against the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodha and he believed that even the Muslims now want it.

However, he said the decision on the issue will be taken by the Supreme Court.

The comments were made during an election campaign ahead of the Nov 28 assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh.

He also claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) only banks on the issue of Ram Temple during the elections.

The actor-turned-politician said that BJP "never had any great passion for Lord Ram."

He also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and made a comment on his mother's age.

Babbar compared the devalued rate of the Indian rupee to the PM's nonagenarian mother, who is around 97 years old.

"He [Modi] used to say that the rupee has fallen so much against the dollar that it was nearing the age of the then prime minister [Manmohan Singh]. Today, the rupee's value has dropped so low, that it is inching closer to your [Modi's] beloved mother's age," Babbar was quoted by media at a rally in Indore.
