Congress says Vice-President Rahul Gandhi did not sign in register for non-Hindus during visit to Somnath Temple
New Delhi, Nov 29 (IBNS): Controversy was created around Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi after his name was reportedly listed in the register of non-Hindu visitors in Somnath temple of Gujarat.
Gandhi visited the temple on Wednesday.
'Somnath Temple' emerged as a top trending issue on Twitter following the episode.
The party clarified that images circulating on social media purportedly showing party vice president Rahul Gandhi registering as a non-Hindu during his trip to the temple was fake.
Congress tweeted: "Clarification: There is only one visitor's book at Somnath Temple that was signed by Congress VP Rahul Gandhi. Any other image being circulated is fabricated. Desperate times call for desperate measures?"
Gandhi is on a tour to poll-bound Gujarat.
