Kolkata/IBNS: The total number of novel coronavirus cases rose to 18 in West Bengal after a woman, who has been kept in an isolation ward in North Bengal Medical College & Hospital, tested positive for the contagion.

She has travel history to foreign country, sources said.

Meanwhile, the total COVID-19 cases in India reached 1009 at the time of writing this report. As of now, 83 people have been cured, while 23 people have succumbed to the deadly infection.

Earlier in the day, the fresh coronavirus cases were reported at 959.

The jump in fresh cases came, even as India enetered the fourth day of the 21-day lockdown called on Tuesday, a day after 1.3 billion people stayed back home to observe "Janata Curfew".
