New Delhi/UNI: The Delhi Metro services, which were halted during the lockdown, will resume again from Monday, June 7, with 50 per cent passenger carrying capacity.

"In the wake of revised guidelines issued today...... the Delhi Metro services will be resumed for general public from 7th June 2021 with 50% seating capacity only," the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said.

The DMRC informed that on Monday, only half of the available trains will be inducted into service with a frequency ranging from approximately 5 to 15 min on different lines.

"The number of trains will be inducted in full strength in a graded manner by Wednesday and thereafter, services will be available as per normal frequency which was available before the lockdown," it said.

The DMRC advised the general public to cooperate with the Metro authorities in ensuring compliance to Covid appropriate behaviour inside Metro premises throughout their travel. It also urged the public to take extra time for their daily commute and exhibit Covid appropriate behaviour outside the stations also while waiting for their turn to enter the station.

Earlier, the metro services were shut for nearly six months from March to September, 2020.

The Delhi Metro is the most essential mode of transport in the national capital consisting a network of about 389 Km with 285 stations. The network has now crossed the boundaries of Delhi to reach NOIDA and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Bahadurgarh and Ballabhgarh in Haryana.
