Crime in Uttar Pradesh: Woman gang-raped, thrown into canal in Meerut

Meerut/UNI:  A woman was allegedly gang-raped and later thrown into the Gang canal in the Sardhana area by accused, police said here on Monday.

The victim somehow managed to swim out of the canal and reach the plains.

Police here said that the woman, residing in a village of Muradnagar in Ghaziabad, was abducted from her in-laws' house, late Sunday night. Following the kidnapping, the accused gang-raped her and later threw her into the Gang canal near the Aterna bridge.

Two youths were on their way to work at their farms, this morning when they saw the woman lying nearby.

The woman told her ordeal to them. Subsequently, the locals intimated the police.
