Death toll from fire in Chinese office building rises to 25: Reports

Beijing/UNI: The death toll from a massive fire in China’s Shanxi province went up to 25, China Central Television (CCTV) reported on Thursday.

The fire broke out in a four-storey Yongju Coal Industry office building at 6:50 a.m. local time (GMT 22:50 Wednesday) on Thursday.

Firefighters have managed to bring the fire under control, CCTV reported.

However, the number of people who were in the building when the fire started remains unknown, according to the report. Rescue operations are ongoing, the broadcaster reported.

The cause of the fire has not been determined yet, although the investigation is underway, CCTV reported.

Earlier on today, CCTV reported 19 people were dead and 51 hospitalized.
