Debbie Abrahams was sent back 'Badi Izzat Se', we believe her ideology is anti-Indian: MEA on UK MP's deportation

New Delhi/IBNS: The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday said British MP Debbie Abrahams was not allowed entry into India as she did not have valid visa, and added that the Labour Party MP from the United Kingdom holds “anti-India sentiments” and has been carrying “sustained campaign against India”.

In a press conference today, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, "She came here without a valid visa so we sent her back badi izzat se from Delhi airport. We believe that her statements and ideology are anti-India. There is a sustained campaign from her side against India.”

This is the first time that the government has categorically acknowledged that the Labour Party MP from the United Kingdom holds “anti-India sentiments” and has been carrying a “sustained campaign against India”.

Abrahams had criticised the Centre's decision related to Article 370 in Kashmir, was stopped at the Delhi Airport on Monday and deported to Dubai.

On her arrival at the Delhi Airport, she was told that her e-visa had been rejected.

However, the British MP, who is also the chairperson of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Kashmir in Britain, had said in a statement that she was "treated like a criminal".

However, yesterday The Week reported that "Debbie’s profile raises a red flag with Indian intelligence agencies who have reasons to believe that she has links with individual/outfits working for Pakistan’s ISI."

The report said that Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI has been in contact with the British MP through JK Self Determination Movement International (JKSDMI), which the Indian intelligence suspects to be funded by ISI.

The deported MP is now in Pakistan, according to Indian intelligence officials and Pakistan had planned to use her India trip by using her statement that she met Kashmiris victimised by India.

After abrogation Article 370, on Aug 5 Abrahams had written to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and India’s High Commissioner to the UK Ruchi Ghanashyam expressing concern over additional deployment of 8000 troops in "India-occupied Kashmir", the report said.

She also led British parliamentarians on Sep 3, 2019, in presenting the JKSDMI Kashmir Petition in London in the presence of the outfit's chairman Raja Najabat Hussain.

All Parties Hurriyat Conference-Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, Syed Aijaz Rehmani and Abdul Hameed Lone along with Raja Najabat Hussain met her on Dec 15 to apprise her of the "grim human rights situation in India occupied Kashmir", added the report.

The Indian intelligence has said that Abraham's travel and stay in Pakistan are sponsored by the government of Pakistan.
