Delhi LG denies permission to Mamata Banerjee from meeting Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi, June 16 (IBNS):  Delhi Lt. Governor Anil Baijal on Saturday denied permission to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from meeting her Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal who is currently holding a sit-in protest at the Raj Niwas, confirmed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

AAP leader Raghav Chadha tweeted: "WB CM @MamataOfficial asks LG to let her meet Delhi CM @ArvindKejriwal this evening at 8pm."

His later tweet informed: "Permission denied by LG. Extremely sad state of affairs."

He said: "WB CM will arrive at Delhi CM's residence and then walk towards LG house to meet @ArvindKejriwal."

Reacting to the issue, Kejriwal tweeted: "We live in a democracy. Can PM deny Hon’ble CMs of other states to meet CM of another state? Raj Niwas is noone’s personal property. It belongs to the people of India."

Meanwhile, denying charges levelled against them by the Delhi government, the Indian Administrative Service  (IAS) association on Saturday said they are holding token protest every day.

Kejriwal and his government have claimed that the IAS officers were not working or taking orders from the AAP ministers.

In a statement available with the media, the association said: "There are certain misleading and wrong statements by political executives alleging that IAS officers are on strike and haven’t been working for the last four months. It is reiterated and made clear that such reports are totally baseless. Meeting of chief secretary, principalsecretary and heads of departments are also taking place regularly."

The statement further said that officers are holding “five-minute silent protest only during the lunch hour against the assault of the chief secretary at the chief minister’s residence."

“Officers do not expect to be physically attacked while discharging their lawful functions and duties,” said the statement issued by the association.

Kejriwal and three of his cabinet colleagues continued their sit-in protest at Baijal’s office for yet another day on  Saturday.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Public Works Department Minister Satyender Jain and Development Minister Gopal Rai are currently campaigning at the Raj Niwas.

They have been campaigning since Monday.

They have refused to leave the venue unless the Delhi LG orders the IAS officers to call off their alleged strike.
