Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal visits violence-hit areas

New Delhi/UNI:  Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal on Friday visited violence-affected areas of North East Delhi and took stock of the situation.

Accompanied by the Delhi Police top-brass, Baijal interacted with the local people in Maujpur, Gokulpuri and others places.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, other Delhi Ministers and DCW chief Swati Maliwal had visited the riot hit areas earlier this week to meet people.

Special Commissioner of Police SN Srivastava and Joint Commissioner of the concerned range also reviewed situation in the areas this morning and held Aman committee meetings appealing people to maintain peace and harmony.

The additional security forces continued to patrol the area on Friday and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere.

The death toll in the violence has risen to 39, according to hospital sources. Some injured continues to be in critical condition.

Around 200 people had injured in the clashes.
