Delhi Polls: ECI issues notice to Yogi Adityanath over 'Kejriwal feeding Shaheen Bagh biryani' remark

| @indiablooms | Feb 06, 2020, at 08:49 pm

New Delhi/IBNS: After the campaign for Delhi assembly polls 2020 ended, the Election Commission of India on Thursday evening served a show-cause notice to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for allegedly violating Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during an election campaign last week, an ECI statement said.

Earlier on Feb 1, during a public meeting in Delhi's Karawal Nagar, Yogi Adityanath reportedly attacked Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) by alleging that Arvind Kejriwal was supplying biryani to Shaheen Bagh protesters.

A day later, AAP leadership filed a complaint against the remark of UP CM before the ECI and after completing the preliminary enquiry, the Election Commission issued the notice.

However, Yogi Adityanath has been asked in the notice to revert with his explanation on his controversial remarks against AAP chief before 5 pm. on Feb 7, according to the ECI statement.
