New Delhi, Nov 6 (IBNS): CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on Sunday criticised the Centre and blamed it over the rising pollution problem in Delhi.

He said 'environmental laws have been systematically and regularly diluted' by the Centre.

"Deadly pollution in Delhi is a warning for the rest of India. Environmental laws have been systematically & regularly diluted by the Centre," he tweeted.

"Public health warrants progressive laws and their just implementation, unlike what we have witnessed in the last 2.5 years from the Centre," he said.

In an attempt to tackle rising levels of air pollution and smog in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sundayannounced several measures including ban of all construction works and demolition of buildings here for the next five days.

Speaking to reporters after an emergency cabinet meeting, Kejriwal said: "All construction and demolition works will be banned in Delhi for five days."

He announced that water will be sprinkled on Delhi roads to control pollution levels.

The Delhi Chief Minister also spoke on possibility of return of his Odd Even formula for private cars in the national capital as measure to tackle air pollution.

"Schools will also be remained shut for the next three days," said he.

The Delhi government also ordered to ban the use of generator ordered for 10 days.
