Delhi to create India's first plasma bank for Covid-19 treatment: Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi/IBNS: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced his government will create India's first plasma bank to treat people infected with the pandemic Novel Coronavirus or Covid-19.

"Plasma bank will be created in Delhi. This will be the country's first plasma bank. I urge all people who were cured of Covid-19 to donate their plasmas to save the lives of others," said Kejriwal.

The CM said the cured patients will be allowed to donate their plasmas in non-Covid hospitals.

The national capital Delhi is the second most worst-affected region in the country with its tally touching 83,077 including 2.623 deceased and 52,607 cured/discharged.

Last week in a press bulletin, Kejriwal had detailed five ways to tackle the contagion.

He had told the media, "The Delhi people are fighting a tough battle against Coronavirus. We have five weapons in this fight.

"The five weapons are the increase in hospital beds, ramping up of testing and increase in isolation (of patients), arrangement of oximeter and oxygen concentrator, treatment through plasma therapy and survey and screening."
