Drugs case: NCB officials to probe Sameer Wankhede after bribery allegations

New Delhi/IBNS: A five-member team from the vigilance section of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) will travel to Mumbai on Wednesday to investigate the allegations against Sameer Wankhede, the officer in charge of the drugs-on-cruise ship case involving Aryan Khan.

The agency had ordered a vigilance inquiry into the bribery allegations made against the officer by a man named as a witness in the case.

Wankhede is also facing a series of allegations from Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik that range from extortion to illegal phone tapping.

Speaking to the media earlier in the day, Malik said: "Sameer Wankhede, was born in a Muslim community, and was married to a Muslim girl named Dr Shabana. Later had a second marriage with Kranti Redkar, to get benefit of scheduled caste, he had changed his caste and snatched rights of poor persons."

Malik claimed Wankhede "used to make illegal phone intercepts of well known people through two private persons and blackmailed innocent persons".

Sameer Wankhede, who is leading the probe into the drugs case involving Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan, reached Delhi on Monday evening but denied that he had been summoned by any agency.

At the airport, Wankhede was surrounded by reporters, where he had said that he was in the national capital for some work.

"I absolutely stand by my investigation, 100 percent," he had told mediapersons.

Wankhede is facing the row over payback allegations and his war of words with Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik.

According to an NDTV report, in an affidavit, private investigator KP Gosavi's personal bodyguard, Prabhakar Sail, claimed he has heard KP Gosavi speak to one Sam D'Souza of an 18 crore deal, of which 8 crore was to be paid to Sameer Wankhede.

In the same evening, KP Gosavi, Sam D'Souza and Shah Rukh Khan's manager Pooja Dadlani, had a 15-minute meeting inside a car.

He even said he had received the money from KP Gosavi and handed it over to Sam D'Souza near Trident Hotel. When the cash was counted, it amounted to 38 lakh and not 50 lakh, he said in the affidavit.

Sail was one of the nine witnesses NCB named in a press release on October 6.
