ED attaches bank accounts, FDs and other assets of Karti Chidambaram in Aircel-Maxis case

New Delhi, Sep 25 (IBNS): The Enforcement Directorate has attached assets, bank accounts, and fixed deposits worth Rs. 90 lakh of Karti Chidambaram as part of an ongoing investigation into the Aircel-Maxis case, according to media reports on Monday.

Karti Chidambaram is the son of former Union finance minister P Chidambaram.

Last week, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had informed the Supreme Court that a llo out notice has been posted against Karti Chidambaram to prevent him from travelling abroad, media reported.

Earlier in September, P Chidambaram defended his son Karti in Aircel-Maxis case, saying that the CBI  must question him and not harass his son.

He had tweeted, "In Aircel-Maxis, FIPB recommended and I approved minutes. CBI should question me and not harass Karti Chidambaram."

In an early tweet, the former Union finance minister even alleged the CBI of spreading misinformation. "Sad CBI spreading misinformation. In Aircel-Maxis, FIPB officials have recorded statements before CBI that approval given was valid."
