ED raids Bengal minister Chandranath Sinha's residence in teacher recruitment scam

Kolkata/UNI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on West Bengal Minister Chandranath Sinha's premises on Friday in connection with the teachers' recruitment scam, official sources said.

Minister Chandra Nath Sinha's house at Bolpur in Birbhum district, official sources said.

The said team of EDs was compiling over half a dozen sleuths, aided by the armed central forces began search operations at Sinha's house at Nayak Para, Bolpur, from this morning.

Sources said the minister was not present at the time when the federal Agency officials arrived there for the search operation in relation to the alleged teacher recruitment scandal, in which Unqualified aspirants were given jobs against cash and deprived of qualified candidates in the state-sponsored schools.

The ED came to know that the minister was at his Nuraroi home and called him to come to his Nayak OPara home to face the questioning, sources said.

The ED also raided multiple places in the city, including Lake Town, and its surroundings in relation to the same case.

The raids were being made on a chartered accountant, Birendra.

Jhunjhunwala at his Lake Town home and office, including that of his brother Satyendra Jhunjhunwala. The raids were also at Chetla in south Kolkata and Birati in the North 24 Parganas, sources said.

On Monday, the ED conducted raids in Trinamool Congress’ district office at Bolpur.
