New Delhi, Sep 28 (IBNS): Father Tom Uzhunnalil from Kerala, who was rescued from terrorists in Yemen on September 12, arrived in New Delhi on Thursday, according to media reports.

He was welcomed by External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj on his arrival in New Delhi.

The Catholic priest, who was abducted by ISIS militants, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi following his arrival in Delhi, media reported.

Sushma Swaraj, tweeted the news of the rescue of the priest earlier in September. "I am happy to inform that Father Tom Uzhunnalil has been rescued," she tweeted.

Father Tom Uzhunnalil of Kerala was abducted by the Islamic State from Yemen in March, last year.

In December, the media reported that he had appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pope Francis to help him get his release from the terror group.
