Srinagar, Nov 15 (IBNS): A massive fire damaged the famous Khankah-e-Moula shrine in Old Srinagar, winter capital of state Jammu and Kashmir, after fire broke out on Tuesday night.

The blaze has caused partial damage to the roof and the spire of the shrine.

Initial reports said that the fire is believed to be caused by short-circuit.

The shrine was built in memory of renowned Sufi saint Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA).

Amir-e- Kabir Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA) the saint and his saintly works are integral to ‘K’ narrative of more or less 750 years –mid 14th century onwards. Study of Kashmir from any perspective—historical, socio-cultural, economic would be incomplete without reference to the much revered Amir-e-Kabir.

Reports said the fire was brought under control by the timely action of the locals and the fire tenders who reached the spot from different parts of the city .
