Five killed as truck carrying chemicals catches fire colliding with other vehicles in Jaipur

Jaipur/IBNS: At least five people were killed after a truck carrying chemicals went up in flames colliding with several other vehicles outside a petrol pump in Rajasthan's Jaipur in the wee hours on Friday, media reports said.

At least 37 people have been injured and several victims are in critical condition.

Rescue operations are underway.

The incident occurred on Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Bhankrota area at around 5:30 am.

Several other vehicles were also engulfed in fire.

As per reports, the explosion could be heard upto 10 kilometer distance from where the incident happened. In fact, there were multiple explosions that took place.

Rajasthan chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma, who went to the hospital where the victims were rushed to, posted on X, "I am deeply saddened to hear the sad news of casualties of citizens in the gas tanker fire incident on Jaipur-Ajmer National Highway."

"Rescue work by the administration is continuing. The local administration and emergency services are working with full readiness."
