New Delhi/Kathmandu/IBNS: Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla will meet Prime Minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli on November 26 as scheduled earlier during his two-day visit to the Himalayan nation to strengthen people-to-people cooperation between the two neighbours, said a media report.

According to an HT report, officials aware of the matter said there was no change in the Indian diplomat's schedule amid the political turmoil in Nepal.

The foreign secretary's itinerary remains intact, a top government official said, dismissing speculations in Kathmandu that New Delhi could cancel the meeting amid uncertainty around PM Oli's future, reported HT.

Earlier, reports had said during his visit from November 26 to 27,  Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla will hold meetings with his Neali counterpart Bharat Raj Paudyal and foreign minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.  He will also meet President Bidhya Devi Bhandari apart from Prime Minister Oli during his visit.

Shringla's visit is also expected to lead both the countries to fix dates for the meeting of the Joint Technical Level Boundary Committee, it added.

Apart from this, India could assure Nepal with supply of Covid-19 vaccine once its production starts in India and revival of the Pancheshwar multi-purpose project on river Mahakali as well as other hydro-electric projects, the HT report further added.

Shringla's visit will be the first high-level diplomatic contact after Nepal and India's bilateral relations plummeted earlier this year, post the construction of an 80 km-long road in Lipulekh region, which Nepal claims as its own territory, and issued a new map including Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura, all controlled by India.
