Kolkata/IBNS: Former Congress MLA in Goa, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, is all set to join the Trinamool Congress (TMC), IBNS has learnt.

Lourenco, who quit the Congress on Monday morning, is now in Kolkata.

He is a three-time MLA from Goa.

The TMC, which is aiming to expand its base outside West Bengal, has inducted several Congress MLAs to the party.

Recently, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee and party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee had visited the state to mobilise its workers.

TMC MP Mahua Moitra has been made the party’s Goa in-charge to bolster the campaign against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Goa will go to polls in early 2022.
