The encounter, which began at 5:30 am, led to the death of a civilian besides the four terrorists and a cop, reports said.
The encounter initially began as a search operation after an intelligence input from the security forces informed the presence of terrorists in a house.
However, things took a turn for the worse after the terrorists hiding in the house opened fire. The owner of the house has been killed in the gunfight and his wife has been injured.
Reports claim that internet services in the valley of Srinagar and Anantnag have also been suspended.
Vaid had earlier said that there has to be some sort of an impact of the ISIS in Kashmir after a policeman was killed in February but he admitted the fact that although their presence in the valley wasn’t. “substantial”, it was a threat to reckon with.
