French President Emmanuel Macron's visit strengthened India-France relations: Narendra Modi

New Delhi, Mar 13 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has thanked French President Emmanuel Macron for visiting India.

He said the President's visit to India has added new strength to India-France relations. 

Modi said he felt happy to meet the President first in Delhi and then taking him to Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi city on Monday.

After finishing his Indian trip, Macron earlier tweeted: " Thank you India, #ChooseFrance!."

Modi was quick in responding: "India is honoured to host you, President @EmmanuelMacron. Your visit has added new strength to India-France relations. I am personally happy I met you in Delhi and could be with you in Varanasi."

Emmanuel Macron arrived in India on Mar 9.

Modi and the President co-chaired the Founding Conference of the International Solar Alliance in New Delhi on Mar 11.

On Monday, Modi and  Emmanuel Macron visited Varanasi.

They went to Mirzapur to  inaugurate a solar power plant.

In Varanasi, the two leaders visited the Deen Dayal Hastkala Sankul.

Modi and Macron then arrived at the famous Assi Ghat in Varanasi, where they boarded a boat for a ride along the Ghats of the Ganga, culminating at the historic Dashashwamedh Ghat.
