FTII students fall sick, parents write to PM seeking speedy resolution of issue
New Delhi, Sept 13 (IBNS): With health of two students on hunger strike deteriorating on Saturday, their parents have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) an institute of national importance and have sought speedy resolution to the ongoing issue.
While one student - Hilal Savad - was hospitalised on Friday, another on fast - Alok Arora - was admitted to the hospital after he felt unwell with a drop in sugar level, said reports.
Three students had started indefinite hunger strike on Thursday.
The students have been boycotting classes since June 12.
The FTII students' are protesting for removal of TV actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member Gajendra Chauhan as the chairman of the institute. Their agitation has received support from a section of the faculty and several celebrities.
