New Delhi, Dec 9 (IBNS): BJP's ideological mentor, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Sunday demanded that the Union government will fulfil its promise and build the Ram temple on the disputed land in Ayodhya, said reports.

"Those in power today had promised to construct Ram Temple. They should listen to the demands of the people and fulfil the demand of temple in Ayodhya. They are aware of the sentiments," senior RSS functionary Suresh 'Bhaiyyaji' Joshi said at a rally in Delhi's Ramlila Maidan to demand fast-tracking of the Ram temple construction.

"We are not begging for it. We are expressing our emotions. The country wants 'Ram rajya'," he added.

Thousands gathered at the Ramlila Ground in Delhi for the rally.

They protesters want the government to pass an ordinance or executive order to bypass the legal process in the next Parliament session that begins on Tuesday.

The winter session will be the last full-fledged session before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections are announced.

The case of Ayodhya is pending in the Supreme Court.

In January, the apex court is likely to name a date for the beginning of the hearing.
