Guwahati/IBNS: The Gauhati High Court on Thursday rejected the bail petition of Assam’s peasant leader Akhil Gogoi.

The two-judge bench of the Gauhati high court comprising Justice Kalyan Roy and Ajit Borthakur had rejected the bail plea of Akhil Gogoi.

The leader of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) has spent more than a year inside the jail since December 2019 for his role in anti-CAA protests and he was booked in multiple cases, including charges of sedition & provisions of the UA(P)A.

Akhil Gogoi was arrested on December 12, 2019 for his alleged role in violent anti-CAA protests in the state.

Many organizations have raised their voices against the arrest of Akhil Gogoi and demanding his release.
