Goa CM Sawant sacks 4 ministers, swearing of new faces later today

Panaji, Jul 13 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday sacked four ministers from his cabinet in view of induction of same number of new faces whose swearing is to take place at Raj Bhavan later in the day.

A notification issued by the government said,'The Governor of Goa is pleased to accept the recommendation of Chief Minister that Vijay Sardesai, Rohan Khaunte, Vinda Paliencar and Jayesh Salgaonkar shall cease to be members of the Council of Ministers headed by the Chief Minister, with immediate effect.'

While Sardesai, Paliencar and Salgaonkar are from Goa Forward Party (GFP), Mr Khaunte is an independent MLA.

Meanwhile, Goa Assembly Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo tender his resignation from his post. He is from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who is to be sworn in as a ministers. The other MLAs who were part of the group of ten who left Congress and are to be sworn in as ministers are Chandrakant Kavlekar, Jennifer Monserrate and Filip Neri, sources said.

Goa Assembly Speaker Rajesh Patnekar said he had accepted the resignation of Lobo.
