New Delhi/UNI: President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday shifted Goa Governor Satyapal Malik to Meghalaya, replacing incumbent Tathagatha Roy, on completion of his five-year-tenure in the gubernatorial post.

In another change, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has been asked to discharge the functions of the Governor of Goa in addition to his own duties.

According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique, "The appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices."

Malik was the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir from Aug 2018 to Oct 2019.

He was appointed as the Governor of Goa in October last year after Parliament passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill bifurcating the state into two Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
